Panthers Near 100 And Knight Rams Even

This week continued the total domination of Washington for the best area team.  Collecting 21 of 31 possible first place votes, the Panthers had over five times as many first place votes as the second place Rockets.  This week the Knights and Rams traded positions from last week with the Knight taking 3rd.  The Rams had just as many total points as the Knights but only two first place votes against the Knights four.  No other team had more than 2 total points.

Here is how the 31 voters cast their ballots.
Keep in mind, first is worth four points, 2nd is two points, and third is one point.

Panthers Get 17 Out Of 26 1st Place Votes

For the second straight week the Panthers showed their strength in the MID-Illini and Mid State 5 expert fan poll. Collecting 17 frst place votes they far outdistanced Limestone which had less than 1/4 as many 1st place votes.  Manual was again 3rd with under half the votes of Limestone.  Richwoods closed the gap this week on the third place Rams and was comfortable in 4th.  PND slipped into the also rans this week.

Here is how the 26 voters cast their ballots.
Keep in mind, first is worth four points, 2nd is two points, and third is one point.

Panthers Continue In 1st On The Floor And Poll

The Panthers in week 5 of the fan poll have certainly shown their strength with the win in the Panther Den over the visiting Rockets.  The Panthers collected 3 times the number of first place votes than their closest rival had.  And here is the real key to the overwhelming victory in the poll, only one voter thought the Panthers were the 3rd best in the area.

Limestone took second place again this week but with less than half the total points the Panthers collected.  Manual made it into the top by collecting over twice as many votes as Richwoods who had been a steady top 3 performer until the PIHT.  PND was right on the heels of the Knights.

To all the voters I say thanks and please continue to share with all your fellow forum readers your knowledge and insight. Only two votes were pitched because of leaving the required numbers off.  The FANBOYS are realizing their crap isn't playing in Peoria so they becoming fewer and fewer.

All we need is about 8 more quality voters and we be on the same level as the USA Today, CNN, and ESPN poll which has 31 coaches determine the best in the entire country.  But we are going to stick to the M-I and the M-S five.

Here is how the 22 voters cast their ballots.
Keep in mind, first is worth four points, 2nd is two points, and third is one point.

HELP NEEDED -- WHO IS GOING TO BE ...

Second in the the fan poll this week? I think it is a pretty sure bet the Panthers belong in number 1 where they were placed in last weeks poll by the narrowest of margins ahead of the Rockets who they then defeated last night as verification of the poll results.

What clouds the issue now is the recent defeat of the Knights by the Irish, the Warriors by the Rams, and the Redbirds by the Raiders.

It is not clear to me who belongs in second and third. Please help by casting your EXPERT vote based on results and your on insight.
Vote here. http://mid-illini.com/mimspoll.html

Once again the rules are one vote and not cumulative voting allowed. But most of all, this is open only to EXPERTS. FANBOY votes, past and present, are pitched and the IP recorded as a FANBOY location.

Eagles In The Hawk House

Friday night was basketball in the Hawk House on the campus of PCHS. The visiting Dunlap Eagles tangled with the Pekin Dragons in a boy's sophomore and varsity contest. The Dragons won the first round but the Eagles took the one that counts the most to most fans. In fact, the Eagles "held" the Dragons to two (2) points in the last quarter and went home with a 25-34 victory after being up by only 1 point at the start of the 4th quarter. I think I am giving too much credit to the Dunlap defense by using the word "held". The young Dragon offense continues to be challenged.

The Varsity Game Pixs Are Here.

The sophomore game provided a lot more action and excitement. I had a request from Dunlap Eagle parents for "Special Focus" on their player and one from a Pekin parent. All were mixing it up nicely and getting touches so it turned out fairly easy to get the requested pixs.

Little Giant Dragon Last Stand At Custer

Went to our second wrestling match of the season and did I pick the right one! The Little Giants and Dragons warmed up for the evenings main event by beating the Metamora Redbirds. The Dragons took care of the Redbirds with the early 5 start. The Little Giants then finished them off and sent them home on the early bus.

For the main event the second mat was put in storage and the main mat centered under the 1000 watt spotlight that was only 15 feet high. ALL the other lights in Custer were turned off completely. The atmosphere became lively and loud and most of all EXCITING. Fans would leave their set and shout instruction and cheer just like your see on WWE Smack Down. (Only the fans were Smack Down - not the wrestlers.)

The Dragons build an early comfortable lead (all in order except the 103 which was last) and then had to fight to hold on to the team victory - perfect for added excitement! The Dragons took the Little Giants by only 4 points at 36-32. Yes, the Dragons are 3A and the Little Giants 1A. The Little Giants should go deep into the IHSA finals.

It was Sr. night and I was at the wrong place with the wrong lens so we didn't get very good mom and pop with grandson pixs for grandma. Sorry about that nanny. ;-(

I want to be sure and go back next year when they have the main event under that big light!
Find the pixs here:

The ultimate "for the team" was in the 285 Little Giant Dragon Match.  Dragon Coach John Jacobs said "Josh was a real warrior out there" .  You can read the complete account of this match and both meets in the Pekin Daily Times Jan 9th tree killing version or just click here for the way of future news and sports distribution.

FYI - Have placed on my calendar of fun the M-I championship conference meet at Morton on Jan 29th.  See you all there!  Be sure and let me know in advance if you would like some "SPECIAL FOUCS" on your favorite wrestler!

Panthers take over 1st from Rockets In 4th Week.

The Panthers and Rockets each tallied 34 total points in the Fan Poll this week. The Panthers take first place from the Rockets in the fourth week via 6 first place votes against the Rockets 5. Based on these results the MID-ILLINI game this Friday in Washington between theses two teams should be one of the best of season. With home cooking and moving screens I will take the Panthers in this game by 7. I think Stewart will be the best ball player on the floor and Sumrell the most disappointing talent. Too much show and not enough go when the going gets tough from Sumrell.

Add your comments and observations if you wish on the bottom of this msg.

Here is how the 14 voters cast their ballots. Keep in mind first is worth four points, 2nd is two points, and third is one point.

Limestone Remains First In Rankings

Week 3 of the fan poll rating is over and the 14 valid votes tagged the Rockets as the number 1 team in the area with 34 total points. Next RHS with 26 total points followed by Washington with 11 total points.  Although not required this week, nearly all the votes were cast prior to the RHS - Panther game that the Panthers won with relative ease in the Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament third round. RHS finished third and Washington was second.

The Rockets and Panthers were both defeated by tournament champion Moline. This certainly makes the upcoming Jan 9th game between the two in the PAnther Den the match-up of the week and a key game for both teams in their match to the Mid-Illini championship.

Here is how the 14 voters cast their ballots.  Keep in mind first is worth four points, 2nd is two points, and third is one point.
